Abstract
Romantic or emotional infidelity refers to the formation of intense emotional attachment to persons outside of one’s primary relationship. Such arrangements often involve the diversion of resources to the affair partner at the expense of a primary partner. Compared to sexual infidelity, emotional infidelity is perceived more broadly and is less well-defined.
