Abstract
Case presentation: A 43 year old woman with a 2 cm mass in her medial left thigh "rst noted after a sports-related injury. After a month with no resolution, she presented to her family practice physician. Routine blood work and radiographs were unrevealing, and a FNA was non-diagnostic. After observation for an additional month, the mass appeared to increase in size and she was referred to MSKCC for consultation. Examination revealed a "rm but mobile 2.5 cm mass in the medial aspect of her left thigh. Excisional biopsy was performed with a 2 cm margin of normal tissue. Pathology revealed a high-grade malignant "brous histiocytoma with negative microscopic margins. No adjuvant therapy was prescribed, and she was placed on a long-term follow-up schedule.
