Abstract

In this chapter, we discuss how HCI facilitates business and organizational processes and performance. We explain why and how HCI is important to businesses and organizations through success and failure cases as well as from the perspective of two specific dimensions, usability and aesthetics. Additionally, we summarize a framework that outlines four principles for HCI design in business and organizations from existing literature. We also provide directions and suggestions for future development and advancement of HCI. This chapter covers a general introduction to HCI in business and organizations as well as trends and directions in this emerging field.
