Efficient real-time mobile traffic information acquisition

Abstract
We propose a simple scheme for real-time traffic data collection where our aim is to minimize data transmission cost. Our scheme utilizes random sampling and prioritization, and adapts to different requirements in both accuracy and timeliness of data. Simulations based on actual road network show that the proposed scheme can significantly outperform a widely-used baseline scheme.
