Abstract
This chapter explores the design and broadening of the educational component of undergraduate management degrees from a liberal perspective, which might include arts, humanities and STEM subjects. It examines the character and structure of liberal education in contemporary management undergraduate education. The chapter also tries to establish whether or not the terms “liberal” and “education” have ossified in favour of specialist, narrowly focused programmes in the context of the UK government's growing utilitarian treatment of universities. It finishes with a set of conclusions and reflections on changes and the future pathways for undergraduate programmes in management in UK universities.
