Abstract
This case study presents some of the critical milestones of design education in Singapore. We begin with a brief overview of the 50-year history of design’s central role in Singapore’s nation-building, culminating in the Design 2025 Masterplan and the formation of the Design Education Advisory Committee (DEAC), a roadmap and an approach to shape the future of design education while nurturing a culture of innovation with a societal focus. The case study then outlines two recent prototypes: (1) Cross-IHL Learning Bootcamps and (2) Seamless Career Pathway - both fostering a strong connection between academic institutions and the design industry. Finally, the paper concludes by highlighting the universal applicability of Singapore's approach, with the aspiration of providing valuable insights to inspire progress in design education globally.
