Abstract
In this symposium, a diverse group of mindfulness scholars present research that: (1) explores the black box of mechanisms underlying mindfulness training and (2) extends mindfulness research beyond the intra-psychic processes typically studied in the literature. Questions explored include: how mindfulness influences energy allocation at work, group-level communication and performance, leader and subordinate relations, multiparty ethical decision-making dilemmas, and social environments faced by professionals. Methods include field experiments and field surveys, laboratory experiments, and qualitative theory-building. Taken together, this research helps extend our existing knowledge of mindfulness and explore new directions for empirical research.
