Abstract
The article is concerned with the difficulties which clients may encounter when selecting external consultancies. The focus of the article is on the use of executive recruitment consultancies. Whilst concentrating on one sector of the managerial services market, the article has more general implications in that executive recruitment is one of a number of managerial functions which are in the vanguard of externalization.
