Social hierarchy and joint search as antecedents of innovation originality

Abstract
We investigate how teams with different social hierarchy structures search for knowledge and how found and included knowledge sources affect innovation originality. We test our hypotheses on a longitudinal sample of semiconductor patents and find that the relation between time-spanning search and innovation originality is moderated by social hierarchy.
