Abstract
An electrolytic cell composed of an aluminium-platinum couple in a molar acetic acid medium does not yield an appreciable current unless fluoride ions are present. This cell can be used to determine traces of fluoride in the presence of uranium. Fluoride contents are then measured down to the microgram scale. The accuracy on the determination of 10 μg of fluoride in the presence of 10 mg of uranium is of the order of 1 per cent.
