Abstract

The policy and law relating to infocomm technology (“ICT”) have undergone rapid and major changes since the first edition of this book. It was published during the Covid-19 crisis in mid-2020, which led to a policy pivot by the Singapore Government to strengthen and accelerate the development and deployment of ICT in the socio-economic fabric of the country. Another major development is the introduction of generative artificial intelligence for widespread public use in late 2022.This long-awaited second edition is timely published so that many of the major changes since the first edition can be incorporated. These include the introduction of laws that tackle online harms such as scams and misuse of personal information and cybersecurity tools, as well as developments to intellectual property laws that impact ICT. The authors view their updated contributions not as a conclusive testament of their work, but as a primer on the law of ICT in Singapore as of 2025 to allow for further study of the subject as it continues to evolve.
