Abstract
The Indo-Pacific has not only risen to the main economic and geopolitical centre of the world, but the region is also where tomorrow’s international order is shaped. For these reasons, the European Union (EU) seeks to level up its partnerships with the Indo-Pacific. Sustainability and the Green Transition are among the priority areas of the EU’s Indo-Pacific Strategy. By evaluating the strategic approaches of the EU, the article critically discusses the motives of coherence, efficiency, and influence as the main driver behind the Strategy. The analysis takes the perspective of the EU and selected Member States, including Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
