Abstract
In this paper, I describe how the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) Assessment process works and explain the significance of IPBES Assessments. I then set out the main findings of the recently completed IPBES Global Assessment while illustrating how some trends at the global level are reflected across the Australian landscape. I conclude by highlighting the need for transformative change within Australian and international law.
