Abstract
One of the more serendipitous dynamics of this Handbook of Geographies of Religion is that, unusually, the three editors, each of us geographers of religion, have ended up at the same academic unit at the same university institution and in Asia no less. In a world where the global academic job market is said to be in crisis and departments are only hiring to plug gaps in teaching offerings, this fortuitous gathering of like-minded geographers in one place is a luxury that, if cast as an imaginative situation, would be a dream too difficult to fathom.
