Abstract
Peter Clark is undoubtedly one of the leading experts on urban history. Playing a major role in some of the most dynamic forums for urban studies, including the British Urban History Group, the Centre for Urban History at Leicester, and the European Association for Urban History, Clark has for many years been a central f igure in raising the profile of urban historiography and in furthering its evolution. His research has brought esteem as well as provoking critical debate; his works are deemed essential reading for any student of the topic. Hence, a new title from Clark is exciting news.
