This COVID19 pandemic has made us understand the importance of Open Science. The science developed through the knowledge contributed should be open so for innovations to happen for the public good. The goods and services which we envisage for the public good can only happen when the data and information are freely available as soon as possible. During the pandemic, India had brought out a draft policy on ‘Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy (STIP) 2020’ which is aimed at making Science more Open. During the presentation, a brief on the STIP 2020 and other developments towards Open Scholarship in India and the work of the Open Access communities of practice in the areas of ‘Openness’ will be presented for discussion on a way forward.
