Abstract
Far from being only material for consumption and nourishment, food is significant in many other respects. The social, scientific and historical study of food has explored the social and cultural aspects of food; political, economic and environmental issues in food production, distribution and consumption.; changes in foodways and foodscapes; and the impact of foods on human health and nutrition.
