Abstract

The present article is a review essay of Professor Sir Guenter Treitel’s Some Landmarks of Twentieth Century Contract Law, which was based on his perceptive and thought-provoking set of Clarendon Lectures. In addition to providing an overview of the major themes of the book, the present essay also focuses on the attempt to unravel the complexity of terms as well as on the abiding ‘spirit’ that is an integral part of the law in general and contract law in particular.
