Abstract
This article starts with an overview of the negotiation on regulatorycoherence in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), and then discusses its potentialimplications for China. The article argues that, the biggest challenge to China is notthe trade diversion caused by the market access commitments in the TPP, but theregulatory coherence issues. The article then discusses the various initiatives Chinahas taken at the domestic, bilateral, regional and global levels in response to theTPP negotiation, and concludes with a critical assessment of the pros and cons ofeach initiative.
