Abstract
Since the publication of the first edition of Principles of Singapore Business Law in 2009, there have been significant changes in the local legal landscape relating to Business Law. This second edition is therefore both timely and necessary. This volume provides an update of the law as stated on 30 June 2012. It follows the format and approach of the first edition including the use of layman’s language and the use of pedagogical features to summarise, illustrate and provide mind-maps of basic concepts. As before, the reader is introduced to complex and unsettled areas of the law by the use of reflection boxes. Apart from updates, a more comprehensive chapter on Competition Law is added in place of the chapters on Competition and Consumer Protection and Biotechnology which have been excluded. Locally, the First Edition has been used as a main text for the undergraduate Business Law course at the Singapore Management University (SMU) for, mainly, the Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Management degree programmes, and for similar courses at other tertiary institutions. As written, we have no doubt that businessmen, professionals and members of the general public have also found it a pertinent resource for an insight into Singapore Business Law. This second edition continues to serve that need.
