Abstract
For family businesses, succession is often a tricky issue that, if not properly managed, will rear its ugly head both at work and at home. Yet, for a business to prosper, concepts of meritocracy need to be in place, perhaps over and above biological ties. At a recent panel organised by the UOB-SMU Entrepreneurship Alliance Centre, the heads of four Singapore family businesses describe the different paths they took to the top and how they plan to pass the baton.
